About me
Hi, my name is Annechiene -or Ann- van den Brink. Born and raised in The Netherlands, I have also lived, worked and studied in the USA (California and Colorado), Poland (Warsaw), Switzerland (Zürich) and India (Bangalore). Recently, I have moved back to The Netherlands again. Together with my husband and three children I have taken on the journey of "expat life". Which means lot's of fun, excitement and adventure, but also adjustment difficulties, loneliness and uncertainties. Getting through all of these issues is challenging, but gives us tremendous rewards.
My professional background is Clinical and Health Psychology (Masters degree from University of Leiden, The Netherlands, partly at the University of Denver, CO, USA). I have worked in different positions at a Dutch Child and Youth Care Organisation, gained experiences at a children's department of an American Hospital, worked with Polish families in crisis and with international students and expatriates. For the last seven years I have been a trailing spouse, managing all aspects of the international assignments and doing volunteer work, most recently working as a teaching assistent at an International School and coordinating a photography charity project in India called "Bangalore Moments".
On this website I am sharing some of my personal expat experiences with you. Hoping that this gives you some insights in expat life, some inspiration and support. Have fun reading and contact me if you have any expat related questions, comments or if you need coaching.
